Celebrate The Season: Music
- Starbright: A Christmas Celebration is a fabulous musical event in the Broadway tradition, with world-class performers in tuxes and gowns belting out traditional and contemporary holiday favourites, incredible sets, dramatic lighting—it’s a Radio City Christmas Spectacular without the Rockettes, and you won’t miss them! Among the tunes from past years are My Favorite Things, Little Drummer Boy, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Silent Night, Ave Maria and Carol of the Bells. There is only one performance, December 6, 2009.

December 17, 2009 - Melissa McClelland
$15 Advance $20 Door
Melissa will play songs off her critically acclaimed third album, Victoria Day. Produced by husband Luke Doucet, her Six Shooter Records debut finds McClelland deeply in touch with a sense of melody and wordplay that rivals any of her contemporaries. Like a roadmap tracing the veins of a country one can only dream of visiting, Victoria Day is both seductive and compelling and features a stunning vocal performance by Ron Sexsmith. McClelland is on her way up and you may not see her in as intimate a setting as this for a long, long time.
- Canadian Brass: More Than Music on Thursday, November 26th. The virtuosi of Canadian Brass have made the brass quintet an exciting vehicle for serious concert music. The quintet - having just celebrated its 35th season - has a long history of recording classical repertoire. They have a special affinity for Baroque music, which requires the brilliance and musical structure that has become the Canadian Brass’ trademark. They will not only be presenting works in the classical repertoire but continue to take daring leaps into jazz, contemporary concert music and popular songs. Canadian Brass perform exclusively on Yamaha instruments.
Stratford Live is pleased to announce the return of Juno Award winning band Blue Rodeo to the Festival Theatre for two shows on Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th. Led by Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy, Blue Rodeo emerged in the early 80's as a countrified rock band in the era of hair metal and glossy pop. Over the course of their twenty-five year career, Blue Rodeo has released 11 studio albums, one live album, a Greatest Hits collection and two DVDs, all selling in excess of 4 million copies around the world.
John McDermott, tenor, will be the final show in Stratford Live’s Fall Season on Thursday, December 17th. “Legend” is not a title John McDermott would readily embrace, but his accomplishments have become legendary in recording industry lore. He calls Toronto and Boston home, but he has also found a home as an international recording star and household name - known as much for his successful musical career as for his commitment to veterans’ causes. His fall tour will feature his newest release Journeys — as well as some new songs that have not yet been released. The band is now in place and has some new and some familiar faces too.
Tickets for all shows are now on sale. For tickets, please call The Stratford Shakespeare Festival Box Office at 519-273-1600 or 800-567-1600.
